Anthony Lupian
Coordinator of HYC

Anthony is a San Diego native, having lived here most of his life in the sunny, mild days of Southern California. His favorite place is the beach, just not too far out into the water as years of watching "JAWS" movies got the better of him.

As a graduate from UCSC with a B.A. in Sociology and minor in Education, he has a solid background in the issues that affect youth each and everyday. Anthony has a strong dedication to empowering queer youth to take control of the world around them and to create positive change. You will often find him circling any snacks or food that has been put out, or messing up your game of pool at the youth center.

Naomi Wahler
Program Manager of Discussion Groups

A San Diego native, Naomi was a volunteer at the HYC for three years before she started working with the team in April, 2006 as Program Manager of Discussion Groups. While volunteering, Naomi co-facilitated the Common Ground discussion group that engages the youth in sharing stories from relationships to coming out experiences. Committed to working with and supporting youth issues, she is excited to be working at the HYC and to be an added member to a team that advocates so highly for the youth of San Diego.

Naomi comes to the HYC with a Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice and is currently working on her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in The Control and Prevention of Violence. When she is not hanging out at the HYC or doing homework, Naomi can be found reading, trying to keep her back yard under control, or learning to master the hoola hoop.

Lauren Martin

Program Manager of Health Education

Lauren grew up in Sacramento but would claim that her true home is in
San Francisco were she attended junior college and played basketball
for the City College of San Francisco. Lauren enjoys the outdoors such
as hiking, running, and snowboarding but will always consider herself a
"city girl."

Lauren was the lead facilitator of the popular Women's Group on Friday
nights before joining the HYC team. Now as the Program Manager of Health
Education Lauren is in charge of the Youth Leadership Council(YLC) , and
the Peer Health Education Program. Lauren is currently finishing her
last semester as an undergraduate at San Diego State University with a
degree in both Psychology and Women's Studies. Lauren is easily amused
and down to earth. You can usually find her floating from room to room
keeping the order, eating any and all chips, and playing with the
famous puppets of HYC...
